Thursday 6/4/2017

The weather was looking a little less bright than yesterday. Mark made a start on putting his new pipework into the ground before the floor was poured. I went swimming.

First Day Back – 5/4/2017

Mark and I arrived back to our block on Aore Island today. We walked from where we are staying with Nanette and Murray (Aore Coffee), took about an hour but still felt great to be back. When we got to the site there were workers there, still making the area to be concreted in, in the next few days we hope. Mark spotted that the men were not following his ‘new’ plan (given to Nelson last trip), and the plumbing was going to be wrong. He immediately set to correcting it by digging in new pipe work, and planning where all the plumbing needed to go. This of course meant that we had to go over to the hardware store and buy plumbing pipe. Meanwhile I was in my favourite place – in the amazing water at our place, just floating around – it really is incredible. So, water taxi Mata was called, and we set off to Santo, not only did we need the plumbing pipe, but also supplies of food as we were doing all our own cooking where we were staying. Also, stopped at my favourite cafe – Natangora (favoured because of its service , lovely staff, food and importantly clean toilets).  Mata picked us up, it is amazing what can be taken on the water taxis (more on that later), he took me back to our accommodation and then took Mark and the pipework back to our site. All this occurred on a beautiful day temperature said was 31 deg but felt like 41. No matter we could swim when ever we wanted which as it happened seemed to occur every hour. Below are some of the photos we took today.
